How are you
MFA Third-year Integrated Media Design

Hello!
My thesis project aims to delve into the impact of 360-degree cinematic experiences on audience engagement and perception by considering the question how are you
Here's how my thesis project came about:
Over here in the United States, it's common for people to greet each other with ‘how are you’ as a casual hello. But back in Korea, we simply say ‘안녕하세요’ which means ‘hello.’ When I first arrived in the U.S., I started to really think about the meaning behind "how are you" every time someone asked me. I wondered about my own feelings.
‘I don’t know.
I never thought about it.
No one ever asked.
Who am I?’
Later on, I discovered something intriguing:
안녕하세요
Even the Korean word '안녕' carries an underlying meaning similar to 'how are you,' although we may not consciously perceive it that way.
How are you really
We've been using it as a casual greeting without fully realizing the depth of the sentiment behind it. Now, I seek to prompt the audience with 'How Are You?' from a fresh perspective.
the follow-up question was :
How can I keep the audience engaged? Which format will resonate, intrigue, or prompt their feelings?
During my time at UT Austin, I was involved with a lot of productions,
All the time I used at least three screens to make the show more engaging.
Fall for dance 2021
Love and Information 2022
…But you could’ve hold my hand 2022
Very Blue Light 2023
Romeo y Juliet 2024 (wip)
This made me wonder-
what if I had one large, connected screen?
Imagine yourself in a 360 screen space.
Watching a 7-10 minute aesthetic, visually-focused movie.
Where even as you turn around, the narrative continues behind you.
10 people will enter, enjoy the show, and exit.
This is how it all started.
Please join and experience it!
