This reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet is a fresh take on Shakespeare's classic, set in Alta California instead of Verona, within a bilingual Spanish-English setting. I focused on emphasizing the tragedy by using a stark, sand-dry monotone palette for the hostile environment, contrasting it with vibrant colors only where Romeo and Juliet's love blossoms. To add depth to scene transitions, I utilized Unreal Engine, and to highlight the structural features of the set, I employed the Disguise program for building mapping and projecting faux shadows.

For this project, I chose to work with Disguise, which allowed me to use multiple projectors in creative ways. Given the set's unique and striking design, I decided to project directly onto it, enhancing its natural beauty not just on the backdrop, but throughout the entire set.

To take this concept further, I turned to Unreal Engine for silhouette manipulation. Using a 3D model of the set, I adjusted the light's brightness, color, and angle to cast dynamic shadows on the ground. This technique lets the audience see time passing, while the changing pace of the shadows creates different moods, sometimes evoking a surreal atmosphere.
